VISIONS OF FRENCH GUYANA

young public

pedagogical project around the Guyanese culture
and the Amerindians of French Guyana

French Guyana? It's an island!

Not at all, it is the largest French department, the size of Portugal.

French Guyana is mostly unknown, even to adults. Ask the question around you and you will get surprising answers.

It is from this observation that the show Visions Of French Guyana was born, dedicated to helping people discover this South American pearl that does not respond to clichés when you know it. Yes, there are smartphones, cinemas, fast food and skate parks. But it is also true that some ethnic groups travel by pirogue and live from hunting and fishing. And this is precisely what makes the beauty and originality of this French land, with its mix of peoples, its colors, its infinite forest and its modernity.

Asking children about their knowledge and bringing them another vision of French Guyana is the objective of Visions of French Guyana. Thanks to the participation of one of the last shamans of eastern Guyana from an Amerindian tribe, who brings his knowledge and experience, the school children are immersed in a universe they often do not suspect.
